Richard Frederick Rode, a resident of Big Lake, WA, died unexpectedly on December 4, 2013, at 56 years of age. Rich spent the first 49 years of his life in Sultan, WA, operating his own construction company for 32 years. He coached junior high football, served as a volunteer firefighter for 31 years, and as district fire commissioner. He was a long-serving member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Sultan and most recently at Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington. He enjoyed regularly attending Bible Study Fellowship in Everett. He will be dearly missed by his high school sweetheart and wife of 37 years, Deanna; two children, Melissa (Jason) Brown and Jonathan (Jenessa) Rode; grandchildren, Mikayla, Haidyn, Jude, Brianna, Kailey and Madelyn; siblings, Dolph (Margaret) Rode, Diane Sage, Pam Tucker, and Paul Rode; brothers and sisters in-law, Don (Ruth) Rousu, Dwight Rousu, Darlene (Jerry) Buss; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013, at the First Baptist Church, 4011 - 81st Place NE in Marysville. A time of sharing and fellowship will follow. Memorials may be made to Bible Study Fellowship Int'l. or Samaritan's Purse.
