John Perrell Obituary

John Perrell passed away Thursday March 6, 2014 in Everett, Washington. He was born in New York City on November 29, 1919. John joined the US Navy in 1942 and was a decorated WWII torpedo bomber pilot in the Pacific. His love of aviation continued throughout his life. John was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association. He married Irene M. Kirsch in 1945. They had three children and in 1970, he moved his family from Garden City, NY to Everett, Washington. He is survived by his son, John (Virginia); two daughters, Wendy (Rolf) and Victoria; four grandchildren, and one great grandson. John is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Irene Perrell. At his request there will be no viewing, but a funeral will be held Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception, 2501 Hoyt Ave in Everett. Burial will be following at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

I already miss getting to be around you! You really turned my mind three-sixty very often as to what's important here and now. I have no doubt you are belting out a million beautiful songs up there for HIS glory.

John was a very educated and giving person. He didn't flaunt this knowledge but spread it around in a sharing, kind way with a flair for words. He didn't really seem to rest much and always seemed to still wanted to learn more at his advanced age!! He yearned to refresh his Latin, learn some Welsh. rejoim the church choir and get the words to old songs he could only remember the choruses to. He even wanted to learn to play an acoustic guitar. He was a big motivation for what I can still learn and achieve in the next few decades of my life!!

Now, whenever I hear an airplane I'll think of John looking up and telling me what type he thought it was. When I hear the song Ava Maria, a Scottish tune, or think of the military, I will think of him..Even for a while, when I see a religious symbol I will think of you. (I'm sure I'll be forgiven! ;-) ) I was also inspired/ convicted when John, no mater how he felt physically, was dedicated to getting to mass EVERY Saturday night...What's excuse have we?

Finally, I want to share how often John spoke of his love for his family. He often talked of his cherished times with his Grandmother and her love for him and the church. He shared what a caring and wonderful lady his wife, Irene was, how much his daughters and their families visited and took care of lots of things for him and how savvy his son was with finances. John was a beautiful person and a huge loss to all of us.

I feel so honored to have been able to take you to mass on several occasions. I really loved listening to your stories in the truck and your singing in the church. You were always so kind and patient with everyone. I wish you peace in Heaven, and I thank you for being a part of my life!

I knew Jack from 5pm Saturday Mass at Immaculate Conception Church. Though I didn't really connect with him until I got to know him a monthly lunch group for those of us who shared a similar political perspective Week after week after Mass he would update us on the progress of his book or movie. would love to hear from his family what was up with that. We will miss him very much at 5pm Mass & were grateful for his presence - and his generous support of my city council campaigns.

JJ, Your going to missed, with all your great stories and sense of humor. It's been too bad we've missed our lunches recently-really enjoyed them as well as all who attended. At least the last couple of years we had our phone conversations. It's been a real pleasure knowing you, and from one of your favorite quotes-"Many more happy landings".

All of us will miss him. So glad he got to see his great- grandson,Brendan when he and his mom visited. Brendan still talks about that visit and shares his love of all things military.
