September 17, 1948 - April 18, 2014 Linda passed away peacefully in Everett, WA, on April 18, 2014, surrounded by many of her loving family. She was born on September 17, 1948 to Dennis W. Westby and Geneva M. (Anderson) Westby. Linda grew up and resided in Everett, her entire life. She graduated from Cascade High School in 1966. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Psychology degree from The University of Washington, where she developed the skills she used during her career. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate person. Linda's career mostly involved chemical dependency counseling for many years and she touched many lives with her compassion and care. Before she retired in 2013, she spent over ten years as a social worker/case manager at Housing Hope of Everett. Linda had many interests and passions. She loved gardening a great deal, "dirt therapy", as she called it. She was proud to receive a Monte Cristo award for her beautiful gardens. Linda spent hours visiting every antique store in the area and developed deep friendships with others in the antique community. She also had a passion for volunteering at several community performing arts centers and theaters. Linda and other family members also loved attending music concerts in the area and she was an avid Moody Blues fan. She dearly loved escaping to her Phoenix condo for sun and R&R. She leaves behind husband, David Swanson; mother, Geneva; daughter, Anjeannette/Angie and partner Jeff; sister, Bonnie Buckner (Mike); nephews, Michael Buckner, Jr. and Mathew Buckner; great niece, Paris. David's children, Elizabeth Swanson and Devin Swanson; granddaughters, Danielle Harris and Drea Demara; great grandsons, James Harris and Trenton Harris; David's brother, Lloyd Swanson, Jr. (Betty); sister, Carol Gallagher (Bruce) and Phyllis Pollock (Rick); several nieces and nephews and their children; and so many dear friends and colleagues, especially Annie, Sheila and Joan. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father. A celebration of Linda's life will be held at Normanna Hall, Sons of Norway, 2725 Oakes Ave Everett, WA, 98201 on Saturday June 28, 2014, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donations, in Linda's name, to Housing Hope of Everett or Domestic Violence Service of Snohomish County.

Linda was a sweet dear friend to me and I will miss her. I have lots of wonderful memories spent with Linda, she had such a sweet gentle spirit. Although I miss her terribly I know in my heart that she would not want me to be sad but, to remember all the wonderful times that we shared
together. With her passing she has helped me to remember how we can make a difference in others lives not by being heavy hearted but,by being loving, kind, a good listener and non-judgemental that was how Linda was. I will miss you so much you will always be in my heart. Your friend, Sheila

Linda was such a lovely woman, coworker and friend. She was kind and caring. The sweetest person one will meet. As a youth, I would knock on her door to ask her to buy school fundraisers and as an adult I enjoyed working side by side with her at Housing Hope. Linda, I hold one to your memory in my heart. My deepest condolences to your family.

As a person who doesn't usually read the paper I was stunned that I happened to pick it up, open it right to the obit page and see Linda's picture. I had talked with her a number of times through events around town and I believe at the historic Everett theatre as well. She was always smiling and remembered me. It was always a pleasure to speak with her and I now realize I should have done so for a longer period each time and more often. It is certainly my loss to have not done so.
My sincere condolences to Linda's family, friends and those who knew her as briefy as I did. Rest in peace Linda and know there are those who will miss you and your smile that you may not have expected to do so.
Sincerely,
Milt Heger
