Paula Manion Obituary

Paula Anne Manion Paula Anne Manion, 61, returned to her heavenly home on April 20, 2015 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her in this struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Paula is survived by her husband, Steve Manion, of Monroe, Wash. and five children: Chris Fritz of Bellevue, Wash.; Amy Thomas of Woodway, Wash.; Jeremy Manion of Boise, Idaho; Jake Manion of Monroe, Wash. and Keaton Manion of Monroe, Wash., and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Evelyn Eads of Kent, Wash.; her sister, Laura Walters of Renton, Wash., and nephew Joel Walters, of Renton, Wash. Paula was born to Irvin and Evelyn Clemen Eads in Covington, Kentucky on July 2, 1953. She grew up as the eldest of five children, immigrated to Washington with her family and attended Holy Angels Academy in Ballard, graduating in 1971. Paula was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend Steve Manion on February 9, 1979 and they raised five children together. Paula and Steve took their children on many vacations, including several trips to the Pacific coast, Hood Canal and Disneyland. Paula had a long career and made many friends at Washington Federal Savings, where she worked as an executive administrator. In 1990 she left Washington Federal to join Steve in the family business and they worked together until her retirement. When not working, Paula enjoyed making and preserving memories. She loved holidays, especially Christmas, and was an avid scrapbooker. She enjoyed cooking (her fried chicken was legendary) and spending time with her family. A funeral is planned for 10:00 a.m. on May 2, 2015 at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Paula's life. Memorial donations may be made in Paula's name to Seattle Children's Hospital.

Another song that Paula and I both loved in May 1969 is "Oh Happy Day" (When Jesus Walked) by The Edwin Hawkins Singers. That song is on You Tube to listen to for free too. What a real great classic song!

A song that Paula and I both loved in May 1969 is "Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine In" by The 5th Dimension. Every time I hear that song it takes me right back to Paula in 1969. You can hear it for free on You Tube.

I am so shocked and saddened to find out that dear sweet Paula passed away. She was so nice and so lovely. It was so wonderful knowing her when we were neighbors on Dibble. We had so many real good times in 1969 when i met her. She was so kind. I'm sorry our good times didn't last a lot longer. She was such a real great friend. She was such a real pretty girl with her long brown hair, big green eyes and pretty eye lashes. She kind of looked like the actress Loretta Young. I'm so sorry that Paula suffered from that cruel illness Alzheimer's. My mom had Alzheimer's the last two years of her life. I was her caretaker until she had to go to a nursing home. Mom didn't even know me or remember me before she died on August 28, 2011. She was 92. It's such a heart breaking illness. It's so sad that you lost your dear sweet wife after 36 years of marriage Steve. You're a real great husband and father. It's so sad that her kids lost their mother. Paula was too young to die. But knowing that she's in heaven with God now is very peaceful. I will always remember lovely Paula. I have so many memories of she and her family on Dibble. Now Paula is with Laura, Irvin and Evelyn. Paula and Laura were so close on Dibble. Laura's death was such a tragedy. Rest in peace Paula. You will never be forgotten. You brought so much joy and happiness to all of your friends and your family. You are such a real sweet heart. You will be missed.
