Carol Templeman Obituary

Carol Nagako Templeman, born on December 16, 1938, passed away on October 15, 2016. She was 77. Carol will be remembered for her extreme devotion to her family, her passion for local sports teams, her magnetic personality and her caring and giving nature. Carol was the daughter of Frank and Pauline Yamashita of Seattle, Wash., was the older sister to David and Gary and was mother to four sons - David, Steven, Dan and Jason. In the spring of 1942, when Carol was three, the family was moved to the Minidoka Japanese internment camp in Idaho. After being released, Carol and family moved to Washington. Carol attended and graduated from Franklin High School in Seattle (class of 1956), before heading to the University of Washington, where she met her future husband, Henry Templeman. Henry and Carol married on March 15, 1962. Carol resided in Lake Stevens, Wash., from the early 1970s until her final days. Carol lived on the lake and loved to look out over it in the morning and evenings. People from near and far were attracted to Carol's personality, her boisterous laugh and her joy for life: from the time she was four and playing with other little children imprisoned with their families at a relocation center internment camp in Minidoka, Idaho; to her very active and popular days at Franklin High School in Seattle where she was elected class president by her classmates; to her commitment toward coordinating and having large gatherings of friends/family at her home in Lake Stevens; to her attendance at all things sports and/or activity related for her boys and grandkids; to her final days expressing that strong inner fire and love for life and family to the nurses at Providence Hospice and Home Care in Everett. She was one of a kind, but most of all, she was all about her friends and family. Many will remember Carol for her loud and boisterous outbursts at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She looked so forward to attending, cheering them on and yes, giving the officials/referees/umpires an earful. It wasn't much different when she would watch "her" Seahawks, Huskies and Mariners on TV. Cooking was amongst her many passions in life, and she started her own business, Carol's Catering, before moving on to a nursing career. Carol worked at General Hospital (now Providence) in Everett in both the ER and Psych ward, in a career that spanned nearly 20 years. Carol is preceded in death by oldest son, David, former husband, Henry, father, Frank and mother, Pauline. She is survived by sons, Steven (Joanne), Dan (Kristle) and Jason (Mindy); grandchildren, Ashley, Richard, Steven, Jordan, Drew, Bryce, Hayden, Brady and Colby; great grand-children, Brooklynn and Trinity; brothers, David (Marianne) and Gary (Judy). Memorial donations can be made to Providence Hospice and Home Care Center of Snohomish County. Friends and family may also sign the guestbook at www.asacredmoment.com

Dan thank you so much for your phone calls letting me know how your Mom was doing. She was my best friend and I miss her fun loving personality so much. We could always make each other laugh no matter how serious our problems and concerns were. I know she was always there for all of you boys and you will miss her every day. So many fond memories, I am so lucky to have known Carol and had her in my life. My Thoughts,Love and Hugs to all of you boys and your family's at this time of sadness. Dan and Jason, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Although I rarely saw her after teaching you in the fourth grade at Hillcrest Elementary, I have never forgotten her support for the school and the help she gave me in the classroom. Do you remember the Japanese meal she made for Mrs. Gissberg's and my class? I will never forget all her help whenever it was needed.

Dan, Jason, Steve and families, Carol was indeed a very special lady and missed by all of us at the Hospice Care Center. I will never eat bacon again without remembering her and her bright smile and laugh when we always ordered her an extra helping with her meals.....hugs to all of you at this sad time.

Dan and Family,
It was with a great deal of sadness that we read of your mother's passing. I knew her years ago when the local attorneys and wives would gather at what was then The Turf Restaurant in Everett for a fun gabfest. Your Mom apparently didn't change over the years - a lovely, shining and engaging woman all of us enjoyed so much. She was a wonderful mother to you, and to your family, and I pray that God will give you the strength to get through this most difficult time. Imagine after all the years that passed, her little boy grew to manhood and to become the Chief of Police in Everett - kudos to your mom for raising such wonderful children. Please accept our deepest sympathy at your loss.
Warm regards,
Lyn (formerly Bortner) and Bud Wessman

Dan and the entire family, I loved Carol like my own mom. She treated us like her own kids. My favorite memory is of her cooking freezer burned meat to feed it to the dog. She was always encouraging and positive to all of us.
