Peter J. Bartek

1941 - 2017

Peter J. Bartek, age 75, formerly of Somerset, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. He was the husband of Pamela J. (Sevey) Bartek and the former husband of the late Patricia (Golden) Bartek. Born in Taunton, a son of the late Fredric and Jeanne (Quigley) Bartek, he had been a longtime resident of Somerset and currently split his time between Sandwich and Naples, Florida. A graduate of Coyle High School he earned a bachelor degree in business from Providence College and a masters degree in education from Bridgewater State University. An English teacher, coach of many sports including football and guidance counselor at Norton High School for many years, he was also the owner and operator of McClellan Fuel Company in Taunton for nearly twenty years before retiring. He wrote for the Fall River Catholic Dioceses newspaper, The Anchor, served on the Board of Directors of the South Shore YMCA and was the Camp Director at Camp Burgess for many years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Ann-Marie Sullivan and her husband David of Hopkinton, MA; three grandchildren, Colin P., Kayla M. and Meghan J. Sullivan; two brothers, Fredric and Josef Bartek and many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 8:00AM at the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover Street, Fall River. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2:00-4:00PM. Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery.
