Harold Walsh

Harold Walsh, 78 years old, of Berkley, died in Morton Hospital, Taunton on Saturday evening, June 27, 2015. He was born in New Bedford,the son of the late Harold J Walsh and Gertrude Anna Hart Walsh of New Bedford. He graduated from Holy Family High School and attended Southeastern Institute of Technology and Textile in New Bedford, MA. Harry was the husband of Louise Day Walsh of Berkley for 52 years and the father of Raymond Walsh and his wife Cheryl of Taunton and Daniel Walsh and his wife Mary Jo of East Falmouth. He has three grandchildren Andrea Walsh of East Falmouth, Daniel Walsh of Mashpee, and Jessica Walsh of East Falmouth. Also one great-grandson Julian Walsh. Harry retired as the Director of Operations for the Paul Dever State School in Taunton MA, where prior to this position he was the Head of the Adaptive Design Department for the same facility for over 19 years. Harry served in the Massachusetts National Guard. Harry was a communicant of St Bernards Church in Assonet. He and his wife are the owners of the Evergreen Rabbit Farm in Taunton. After his formal retirement Harry found joy in creating custom silver jewelry which he proudly displayed at many of the finest art and craft fairs in the North East. He also participated in many country fairs and festivals as a promoter / owner and educator on the joys of owning and caring for Angora rabbits. He was an active member of the volunteers for the Topsfield Fair. There he educated the public on all types of rabbits at the rabbit barn where he and his wife proudly displayed their rabbits. Harry was an active member of the Essex County Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association which is housed within that fairgrounds. Harry was a devout nature and animal lover who enjoyed camping with family and friends fishing and boating. Visiting Hours will be held in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave. (Route 138 South) Taunton on Monday July 6, 2015 from 5-8 pm. Due to renovations at St Bernards Church the Mass of Christian Burial for Harry will be celebrated in St Josephs Church 1335 North Main Street, Fall River on Tuesday July 7, at 10:30 AM.
