Carolyn Kozak Obituary

Carolyn J. Kozak (Spence) passed away peacefully in her home on June 19, 2017 in Middleboro, MA due to complications from cancer. She was 63. Carolyn was born on March 31, 1954 in Fall River, MA to her parents, Dot and Bill Spence. She graduated from Bridgewater State University in 1976 with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Ken Kozak in 1976. They moved to West Hartford, CT, and later to South Windsor, CT where Ken worked as an accountant and Carolyn co-owned a nursery school for more than twenty years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed her position as a sales associate at Williams-Sonoma. They recently moved to Middleboro, MA. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ken of Middleboro, MA, her daughter, Elizabeth of Portland, ME, her son, David of Westerly, RI, and her sister Doro and her family of Stratham, NH. She is preceded in death by her parents. She will be remembered for her love of cooking, group exercise classes, UConn Womens Basketball, and the Boston Red Sox. The family would like to give thanks to the exceptional staff of Cranberry Hospice for the compassionate care provided. It was Carolyns wish that services and cremation be private and a scattering of ashes occur later in the summer. The family is grateful for the condolences, but in lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyns memory may be made to Cranberry Hospice, Philanthropy Office, 275 Sandwich Street, Plymouth, MA 02360.

Ken, Elizabeth and David,
I was so sorry to hear about Carolyn's passing from my mother. I was a cousin who grew with Carolyn and Doro, seeing them quite often as we lived just one town over in Swansea. Our grandmother's were sisters. You will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

Liz and family, I am so saddened to hear of your mom's (and wife) passing. I last saw Carolyn working at Williams Sonoma a few Christmases ago and we had a pleasant but short conversation as it was a very busy time for her. I have fond memories of sitting together cheering our daughters on at Field Hockey games and Field Hockey camp. She was very proud of her children and their many accomplishments. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Dear Kenny, Liz and David and to all my cousins and Family. I will miss Carolyn. I have known her since I was a young girl in Somerset and she would come to our house and hang out with my sisters Kathy and Nancy. She was kind, thoughtful and generous and truly she will be missed. I'm grateful to have seen her this past Christmas at my cousin Lisa's home, and spend some time sitting with her and talking. May God keep her in his gentle arms. Much love to you all, Sue Kozak

I was very saddened to hear of Carolyn's passing. We became good friends while working at Williams-Sonoma and shared many great experiences together. I'll always remember our first holiday season there, with Carolyn greeting customers at the door holding a platter of peppermint bark. We kept in touch even after I moved away. She displayed tremendous courage during her illness. I was honored to know her and will miss her terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with Ken and her children.
