Ray MeltonROCK HILL - Mr. Barney Ray Melton, 74, of 840 Lucas Street, Rock Hill, S.C., and formerly of Fort Mill, S.C., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 8, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, with the Revs. Carl Williams and Barry Yates officiating. A native of Rutherfordton, N.C., Mr. Melton was a son of the late George May and Hattie Ramsey Melton. He was a veteran of the Army Reserve and was also a member of Lighthouse Church. He served as a pastor in several local churches. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never met a stranger. Surviving are his son, Timothy Ray Melton (Christy); two daughters, Debbie Spivey (Johnny) and Brenda Spivey (Ronnie); three brothers, Harold Melton, Sam Melton and Bruce Melton; a sister, Jermine Patterson; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Blackwell Melton. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fort Mill Funeral Home and other times in the home of Linda Price, 1700 Hensley Road, Fort Mill. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice & Community Care for their support and tender loving care of Mr. Melton and the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, 333 Hwy. 21 By-Pass, Fort Mill, SC 29715. Condolences may be left for the family at www.fortmillfuneralhome.com.

Ray was a wonderful man. I met him at Eagles Cafe while my mom was battling cancer. He always had a comforting word and wise advise. He will be missed by all who know him. Prayers go out to the family rom my family.
