William Frye Obituary

SPRINGFIELD, W.Va. - William Howard Frye, of Springfield, W.Va., went home to Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday Dec. 18, 2012.

Mr. Frye graduated from Romney High School in 1947 and attended Shepherdstown College. He taught school at Greenspring Elementary School prior to serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Bill was also employed in various other industries, including Old German Brewery, ABL and Celanese Fibers Inc. from where he retired. He was an active member of the Springfield UMC where he sang in the choir. His love for singing and enjoying gospel and country music sprang from his mother. His mother, sisters and he sang on a weekly radio program. His singing has brought comfort and joy to many.

Bill had many hobbies and memberships including Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Elks Club and the fire department in Rock Hill, S.C.

Survivors include sons, Ronald Frye and wife, Pamela of Cumberland, Md., and David Frye and wife, Carolyn of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Upchurch Funeral Home, Fort Ashby, W.Va. Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Brother Fred Parker and the Rev. “Cappy” Caplinger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Bank of Romney, Springfield, W.Va., in care of William H. Frye to be dispersed to his charities and groups.
