ROCK HILL - Mr. Joseph Patrick Sealy, 44, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill, S.C., after a long battle with ALS. He was born Aug. 26, 1968, in Chester, S.C. His family and friends will miss him very much.
The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, with Dr. Robert D. Shrum officiating.
Surviving are his parents, Richard and Elaine Sealy of Rock Hill; his sisters, Melissa Church (Les) of Florence and Rachel Sealy Smith (Kent) of Rock Hill; his brother, Bob (Stefanie) of Florence; a brother-in-law, Kenny Morris of Union; and his uncles, Wesley Roof (Shirley) of Chester, L. B. Sealy Jr. (Annie Mae) of Chester and Walter Sealy (Barbara) of Rock Hill; and his aunts, “Cricket" Jones (Grady) of Chester, Kathleen Clayton (Earl) of Chester and Aunt Ethel Harris of Charlotte, N.C., with whom he had a very special bond. There are eight nieces, four nephews and many cousins. His devoted and lovable dog, Sula, mourns with us, too.
Joe was employed by Robert E. Mason in Charlotte when he was diagnosed with ALS. His direct quote, "You couldn't work for a nicer company" echoes our feeling for all of them.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, and at other times the family will gather at 4517 Ivywood Drive, Rock Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Sealy's memory to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605; Oakland Baptist Church, 1067 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732; or the Humane Society of York County, 2036 Carolina Place, Fort Mill, SC 29708.

I was saddened to hear of Joseph's passing. I remember what a great kid he was when we were in youth group together at Oakland Baptist Church. It has been great getting back in touch with him over Farmville on Facebook. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

Joe was such a gift to everyone he knew. He was always real. I appreciated his friendship and straightforwardness. He knew how to enjoy life and lived it well. Joe was never in a hurry and always seemed carefree. He had a deep love for animals (especially dogs). I remember when he got Sula and how proud he was of his new best friend. He will be missed, but never forgotton. I could share stories of times with Joe forever, such as camping trips where we all knew Joe would be coming through the woods any minute...
