ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Bill" Wyly Cameron Sr., 82, of Rock Hill, S.C., died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Eastview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rick Martin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Atlanta, Ga., Mr. Cameron was preceded in death by his parents, Angus E. Cameron and Beatrice Morris Cameron and a brother, Gene Stacey. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War and the China Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. He worshipped at Eastview Baptist Church for the past 52 years and served on many church committees, preparing meals and delivering them, working with others to fix up homes and building wheel chair ramps for the needy. He was a pipe fitter, retiring after 40 years from the Pipefitters Union 96/421.
Survivors include his wife, Etta Jane Edens Cameron; sons, Wyly Cameron Jr. (Lila) of Los Alamos, N.M., and David Cameron (Joy) of Rock Hill; brother, Ty Cameron of Brevard, N.C.; sister, Virginia Jenkins (Sam) of Taylorsville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Chase Cameron (Sharon), Kristen Faile (Jamie), Larissa Greer (Greg) Ben Cameron; and three great-grandchildren, Payton, Kailey and Gabe.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the church family life center.
