MONTREAL, CANADA - Joy Oates Long (1944-2012), passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in Montreal, Canada. Born in Rock Hill, S.C., she was the daughter of William (Bill) Oates and Evelyn Powell Oates.
Joy is survived by her loving husband, David; sons, William, Sean and David Jr.; and grandchildren, Grace, Josh, Henry, Maya and Sofia. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Joy was a graduate of the Winthrop Training School and Winthrop University as well as a dedicated volunteer with many Montreal area organizations.
A small memorial will be held in Montreal followed by a graveside interment ceremony at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, S.C. Friends and family will be contacted with details.
