Willie M. Watson ROCK HILL - Mrs. Willie Mae Watson, of 961 Pebble Road, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Flint Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvis Yates officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, Donnie O. Watson of the home; one son, LaMarick Simpson (Tara) of Rock Hill; two grandchildren, LaBran-don Simpson and S'Mari Simpson, both of Rock Hill; one sister, Rosa L. Simpson of Rock Hill; and two brothers, Freddie L. Simpson (Catherine) and David J. Simpson, both of Rock Hill. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home.

Daisy C. Wylie CHESTER - Mrs. Daisy Carter Wylie, 67, of 921 Elm Road, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015, at Brian Center in Columbia, S.C. Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Christian Home Baptist Church in Lowrys. The Rev. James Williams will officiate and Bishop Phillip M. Davis will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Mt. Hopewell Baptist Church in Rodman in Chester County. The viewing is 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday with family visitation at 6 to 7 p.m. with Eastern Star rites performed at 6:30 p.m. at King's Funeral Home at 135 Cemetery Street in Chester, S.C. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Waltrip, Martha Alice Abernathy - Summerville  
Martha A. Waltrip SUMMERVILLE - Martha Alice Abernathy Waltrip, 98, died peacefully at her home in the Village at Summerville Presbyterian Home on August 19, 2015. The youngest of eight children of William Leslie Abernathy and Martha Mary "Mattye" Williams of Ft. Lawn, S.C., she is survived by her sister, Helen Abernathy White of Marion, S.C. A graduate of Winthrop College, Martha became a teacher and married a teacher, Terry Duard Waltrip, a graduate of Wofford. World War II took the Waltrips to many posts and in the 1950's they moved to St. Augustine, Fla., opening a bookshop on Aviles Street, The Cockle Shell, then settling into long careers with the St. Augustine schools. At retirement, they came home to South Carolina at the Village at Summerville. A consummate Southern lady she dressed the part and hostess, Martha entertained and was entertaining, wrote humorous poetry, was gracious to everyone, charitable and generous to those in need. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. at Neely's Creek ARP Church in Lesslie, S.C. on Saturday, August 22, and a memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Presbyterian Home in Summerville the following week. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Kathleen Campbell Hamilton, Mary Abernathy Freedman, Sue Ann Williams, Leslie Lambert-Jones, Jerri White, Harry A. White Jr., William L. Abernathy III and the Rev. William H. Abernathy Jr. and eleven great and fifteen great-grand nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Village at Summerville, Hospice of Charleston, or to the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences may be registered at www.basscares.com .

Williams, Samuel - Charlotte  
Samuel Whitesides Williams CHARLOTTE, NC - Samuel Whitesides Williams, 73, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015, at Novant Presbyterian Hospital with his daughter, Lillian and family friend, Jane Starnes at his side. He was born on September 10, 1941 in Rock Hill, SC, son of the late William Thomas Williams and Mattie Barry Williams. Mr. Williams was the chief x-ray technician at the Miller Clinic for many years. He was a member of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church where he was active in the church choir. Mr. Williams was also active in the Paw Creek Community, a Mason and member of the Steele Creek Lodge. He had the distinction of being the first certified paramedic in Mecklenburg County and served on the squads at two volunteer rescue stations. He always maintain an attitude of "paying it forward" and he was always available to help his neighbors. His favorite saying in life was "learn something new about something new every day". In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marshall McCall Williams and five sisters, Martha Covington, Eva Barnes, Betty Jean Simiril, Nancy Williams and Linda Rhea. He is survived by his daughter, Lillian Nixon, a grandson, Barry Nixon, both of Charlotte, NC and a brother, Tommy Williams of Rock Hill, SC. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Paw Creek Presbyterian, 7400 Mount Holly Road, with Rev. Gary Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 PM at the church on Monday. The family welcomes flowers and/or memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220. The family would like to offer special thanks to Tracy Smith, director of Golden Age Residence for the loving care and Christian atmosphere which Mr. Williams enjoyed.
