Elzey, Carolyn Elliott - Pensacola  
Carolyn E. Elzey PENSACOLA, FLA. - Mary Carolyn Elliott Elzey, 86, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014. Graveside services will 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Laurelwood Cemetery with her husband's nephews, Gary Elzey and David Elzey officiating. She was born to the late Boyce Cleveland Elliott and Mary Ida Tatum Elliott in Anderson, S.C. on January 20, 1928. Her family lived there until she was about 5 years old, then moved to Rock Hill, S.C. In Rock Hill, S.C., she attended Winthrop Training School through high school where she was a drum major in the school band and later attended Strayer Business College. Working as a secretary at the U..S Navy Department in Washington, D.C. she met her future husband, who was stationed in Ft. Belvior, Va. They married on October 19, 1952, and soon moved back to Rock Hill where she was employed as a bookkeeper at Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herman Bridges, Harold Elliott and Boyce Elliott of Rock Hill, S.C. as well as a sister, Marian O'Neal of North Wilkesboro, N.C. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Welton Elzey Jr.; son, Welton Elzey III; nephews, Keith Elliott (Martha) and Allen Elliot (Jan), both of Rock Hill, S.C. and Wayne Elliott (Marian) and Elliott Wheeler (Donna), both of Columbia, S.C. and a niece, Lori Dober (Craig) of Greensboro, N.C. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pensacola, Fla. since moving to Pensacola in 1977. She was an active member of the Lipscomb Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, Suit Yourself and was a volunteer in the church kitchen for over 30 years. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:45 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carolyn's name to the Living Trust of First United Methodist Chu-rch, 6 E. Wright St., Pensacola, FL 32501 or to the local Humane Society where she was always concerned with animal treatment and welfare. The family wants to extend a special thanks to the many friends and church family who offered help and prayers during her illness, especially Sharon Espersen and Debra Tallman, who were long time friends. Also, special thanks to the caring professionals at Baptist Hospital who attended her during her long illness and to the caregivers at Joyce Gold-enberg Inpatient Hospice Residence.
