Tarbox, Willis Grant
Willis Grant Tarbox CHESTER, S.C. - Willis Grant Tarbox died Friday, June 26, 2015, at his nursing care facility. For the last 16 years Willis has made his home in Chester, S.C. Willis is survived by his son, Jim, of Concord, N.C.; four sisters, Arlaween, Eileen, Joann and Joyce and numerous nieces and nephews. Willis was preceded in death by his wife, Alfreda; daughter, Carol and son, Michael. Born and raised in Ulysses, Penn., Willis was a veteran of the Korean War, where he was part of the team to implement the use of rocket launchers, an innovation in the development of weapons for the war. Willis was employed as an engineer for various companies, including the lathe and tool company, Harding Brothers. Willis, an engineer and inventor at heart, invented and constructed many new devices to improve our lives, including new ways to increase gas mileage and generate energy (one of which he has a patent pending). We will remember Willis for his enthusiasm, intelligence and persistence in innovative problem solving and going after his goals. We will miss you, Willis.
