Boatwright, Annie - York  
Annie C. Boatwright YORK - Mrs. Annie C. Boatwright, 88, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014, at her home. She was a loving and feisty, red headed mother and grandma. Surviving her are her children, Betty Williams (Bud), Polly McCarverand, and Eddie Boatwright (Meliissa). She was the grandma to Kelly, Durain, Leigh Anne, Dwayne (Stephanie), Sherry (Todd), Pam (Phillip), Sam (Amy), Tristan, and Sharli. She had eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Boatwright; a son, Doug Boatwright; a son-in-law, Ralph McCarver, and a granddaughter, Dolly Williams. The family will receive friends anytime at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bud, at 8072 Park Place Rd., in York. There will be a small Memorial Service at her home on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Parker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements

Chambers, Ralph - Rock Hill  
Ralph Chambers ROCK HILL - Ralph Chambers, 80, of Rock Hill passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at White Oak Manor in York. A graveside service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Dunn officiating. Ralph was a son of the late Jamie Lewis Chambers and Emma Sue Youngblood Chambers. He was a veteran of the SC National Guard and was retired from the Celanese Corp. He is survived by daughter Shannon Colquitt of Texas; sisters, Rebecca C. Petty of York, SC, Joyce C. Bennett of York, SC, LaVerne C. Spoon of York, SC; and three grandchildren. Culbertson, Henry - Darlington  
Henry Culbertson DARLINGTON - Henry Grady Culbertson, Junior died on Tuesday, December 17, 2014, the morning of his ninety-fourth birthday. He was resident of Oakhaven Senior Care Center in Darlington, SC and was the beloved husband of Lyl F. Culbertson for 69 years. Mrs. Culbertson died in 2011. Mr. and Mrs. Culbertson were residents of Rock Hill until 2009 when they moved to Darlington to be with their oldest son. Mr. Culbertson is survived by his two sons H. Grady Culbertson III (Julie) of Darlington and Robert A. "Tab" Culbertson of Rock Hill. He is also survived by his younger brother Robert Edward Culbertson, Tallahassee, FL., his sister Margaret Ellen Sullivan, Tylertown, MS. and by three granddaughters, Julia Amanda (Adam) Hayes, Alexandria, VA, Katherine Eve (Robert) Miranda, Vienna, Austria, and Jennifer Culbertson (Bryan) Latham, Fairfax, VA. Mr. Culbertson was great-grandfather to Julia Emory and John Briggs Hayes of Northern Virginia and Katherine Elizabeth, Robert Henry. "Hank" and James Grady Miranda presently living in Austria. He loved them very much. Mr. Culbertson was born on December 17th, 1920, to Henry G. and Hester R. Culbertson of Spartanburg. He graduated from Spartanburg High School and Wofford College. He was the oldest of five brothers and one sister. Grady and two of his brothers William L. and Abner C. "Tab" served in the Army in World War II. Tab, his younger brother, served in the 100th Infantry Division in France and was killed in action on December 7th 1944. In 1942, Grady became a flight training cadet in the Army Air Corps and attended Western Reserve University in Dayton, OH. By 1944 he was rated as a pilot and was assigned to a B-24 Liberator crew as a copilot. He was in the 15th Air Force assigned to the 461st Bomb Group, 49th Bomb Wing operating out of southern Italy. After the war, he continued flying with the South Carolina National Guard assigned as an artillery liaison pilot for the 51st Division in Spartanburg. He served there until he retired from the National Guard in 1963. Mr. Culbertson was an employee of Roger Milliken's textile enterprises assigned as a Standards Department analyst at Drayton Cotton Mill in Spartanburg. Later he moved to Hartsville where he was Personnel Manager at the Hartsville Cotton Mill until the mill closed in 1967. His later work years were spent at York County Technical College in Rock Hill as the director of the night school. He retired in 1982. Mr. Culbertson was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Rock Hill teaching Sunday School for many years. He was an artist, an aviator, and an all-round interesting person to talk with. He loved talking about science, politics, religion, airplanes and flying. He will be remembered for his devotion to his wife Lyl, his younger son Tab, and to his church. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 29th at 12:00 noon at Lakewood Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 29th, from 11 - 12 at Lakewood Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church Building Debt Retirement Fund, 3520 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Bratton Funeral Home in York is serving the Culbertson family.

Elaine Moss YORK - Elaine Yarbrough Moss, 90, formerly of York passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia. The funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at York A.R.P. Church with Rev. Barry Eller officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 4 - 6 PM at Bratton Funeral Home in York, and other times at the home of daughter, Pamela McMackin, 2422 Hwy 55 W, Clover, SC. Elaine was a daughter of the late Henry Phillip Yarbrough and Ozelle Bennett Yarbrough. She was a member of York A.R.P. church, and was the widow of Ernest "Joe" Moss. She is survived by daughter Pamela McMackin of Clover, SC; son Marion Moss of Fountain Inn, SC; brother Edward Yarbrough of York, SC; sister Edith Clark of York, SC; four grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren, and two great-great-grand-children. In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Yar-brough and Arnold Yarborough. Memorials may be made to York A.R.P., PO Box 475, York, SC 29745. Sadie Matthews Turner ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sadie Matthews Turner, 97, of 1915 Ebenezer Road, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Saturday, December 6, 2014, at White Oak Manor. Mrs. Turner was born in Chester County, S.C. and was the daughter of the late Lawrence D. Matthews Sr. and the late Lillie McKeown Matthews. She was a charter member of Epworth Untied Methodist Church and retired as a supervisor with Smith Enterprises. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Turner; her brother, L. D. Matthews Jr.; her sister, Evelyn Matthews and one grandchild, R. Pride Turner. A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Turner will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with the Revs. Irvin Plowden Jr. and Mike Catoe officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be held. Mrs. Turner is survived by her sons, James "Joe" J. Turner and his wife, M'Ellen Gordon of Atlanta, Ga. and Richard "Rick" D. Turner and his wife, Libby of McBee, S.C.; her daughter, Susan T. Edward P. Adkins YORK - Edward Philip Adkins, 87, of 865 Adkins Road, died Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Piedmont Medical Center. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 1184 N. Shiloh Road, York, S.C. with the Rev. Thomas McPhail and Neill McKay officiating. The family will receive fri-ends following the service. A native of York, S.C., Mr. Adkins was a son of the late James Roy Adkins and Pauline Sewell Adkins. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with family and friends. His passion was restoring antique tractors in his retirement years. He passed on his love of hunting and fishing to his grandsons. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his great-granddaughter, Lola Jane riding her on his gator and passing his love of the outdoors to the next generation. Surviving are his wife, Naomi Ogburn Adkins; a daughter, Beverly Adkins Meares (Mark); five brothers, James Reid Adkins (Bonnie), Steven Adkins, John Adkins (Susan), Jack Adkins, (Betty) and Greg Adkins (Marguerite); a sister, Dorothy Mae McKnight; two grandsons, Bryan Meares (Shelley) and Matt Meares and a great-granddaughter, Lola Jane Meares.
