ROCK HILL - Ruth P. Flowe, 95, of Rock Hill passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Sterling House Assisted Living.
She was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Lumberton, N.C., the daughter of the late Howard B. Prevatte and Anna Belle Prevatte. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Douglas W. Flowe; son, Harold Ray Flowe; and daughter, Peggy F. Lowery, all of Charlotte.
Mrs. Flowe was always active in raising her five children and acted as a grade mother for them all. She herself was an honor student and furthered her education by receiving a college degree in business. She was lovingly called Memaw by her many grandchildren and others. Mrs. Flowe deeply enjoyed sewing, needle work, crafting, gardening and travel. Her many handmade treasures are spread all throughout the family. She took great care to make many beautiful needlepoint pieces of artwork. Always carefully framed and matted, it gave her such delight to present them to family for all occasions. She was known for her quiet strength, dignity and faith. She loved her husband and was by his side as he built one of the largest grading construction companies in the South. She was the family rock and constant source of support; she was someone to lean on during times of need. Mrs. Flowe was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Lynda F. Reid of Georgetown, S.C., Sarah F. Edwards of Rock Hill, S.C., and Janice F. Jordan of Rock Hill, S.C.; son-in-law, Ed Edwards of Rock Hill, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at McEwen Pineville Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at McEwen Pineville Chapel.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Flowe's honor to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, FL. 17, Chicago, Ill 60601-7633 or Christ Presbyterian Church, 2461 Arty Ave., Charlotte, NC 28208.

Janice and family,
I remember your mom from our early years on Remount Rd., but I know she had to be a sweet lady to raise such a great family. I know you will miss her, but I am glad the Lord allowed you to have her for such a long time. She is happy now with Him. Love to you and your girls.
