Henry A. Tireman

Henry A. TiremanRAEFORD, N.C. - Henry A. Tireman (GySgt, USMC Ret.), 88, of Raeford, N.C., formerly of Rock Hill, S.C., and Jacksonville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C. A memorial service for Henry will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at West Fayetteville Baptist Church, 2465 Gillis Hill Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28304, with the Rev. Tony Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. The family will also receive friends and families at the home of Mikel Bodenbender following the service. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Henry was born in Barron, Wis., son of the late Henry P. Tireman and Viola H. Tireman. He was a member of West Fayetteville Baptist Church and a former member of Catawba Baptist Church, Rock Hill, S.C., and New River Baptist Church (currently Living Hope Community) in Jacksonville, N.C. He was a proud retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. During his military service, he received the following awards: United Nations Service Medal, Navy Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal (5), Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Victory Medal WWII, National Defense Service Medal (2), Korean Service Medal, and a Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was a lifetime member of the U.S. Marine Corps League and Disabled American Veterans. After his Marine Corps retirement, he was employed by Sears, Mammoth Mart and Coastal Opportunities in Onslow County. During his second retirement, he was a self-employed carpenter and school bus driver with the Onslow County and Camp Lejeune School Systems. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of almost 62 years, Ruby O. Tireman and his infant son, Antony Tireman. Henry is survived by his son, Victor E. Tireman (W-Trish) of Lawrenceville, Ga.; his daughters, Patrice A. Tireman of Greensboro, N.C., Myra L. Schendel (H-Franz) of Raeford, N.C., and Erica T. Loring (H-Kenneth) of Cary, N.C.; his grandchildren, Bryan Tireman, Mikel Bodenbender (H-Joseph), Luis Antony Rosario (W-Carmina), Alesha Kraft, Kasey Loring and Samantha Loring; great-grandchildren, Halie Tireman, Aaden Funt, Brandon Paur, Dilan Bodenbender, Logan Bodenbender, Dru Rosario, Katalina Rosario and Juan Rosario; his sisters, Dorothy Allen of Barron, Wis., Iva Brandenburg of Superior Wis., Rachel Fish of Apple Valley, Minn.; and brothers, Richard Tireman of Boyceville, Wis., and Dennis Tireman of Centerville, Utah. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Harbor Chase in Rock Hill, S.C. We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mikel and Joe Bodenbender and their sons for giving Dad a wonderful home of love and care during the last three months.
