Clarence WickerROCK HILL - Mr. Clarence Duane Wicker, 92, passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Agape Rehab in Rock Hill, S.C. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Christine Stoxen officiating. Interment will be private. Mr. Wicker was born in Pomaria, S.C., the son of the late Clarence Gist Wicker and Daisy Rozelle Long Wicker. He was a retired supervisor of the Celanese Corporation with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and a life-time member of both the Frank Roach American Legion Post 34 and VFW Post 2889. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve with a total of 26 years of military service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Helen Bowers Wicker. He is survived by his wife, Mary Cunnup Wicker of the home; his son, Ronald "Ron" Wicker (Debra) of Kinston, N.C.; daughter, Denise Cobb (Mike) of Rock Hill; his step-son, Charles R. Faust (Denise) of Catawba, S.C.; his stepdaughter, Cathy Baratini (Gary) of Rock Hill; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends following the memorial service and military rites at the church.
