John Chavanne "Troop Grampy"TEGA CAY - John E. Chavanne, 76, of Tega Cay, S.C., formerly of River Edge, N.J., passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014. He grew-up in Saddle Brook, N.J., the son of Mildred and John Chavanne. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served his country in the Army Reserves/N.J. National Guard where he retired as a colonel. He retired as a director from Allied Signal (formerly Bendix Aerospace). Following his retirement, John built upon his lifelong passion for construction and ventured into a successful career in home remodeling and rental property ownership. He was an active and beloved member of Lakeshore Christian Fellowship, where he lovingly served in many ministries. He also enjoyed running and completed the Marine Corps Marathon. He was the proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren and will be remembered for his special pancake breakfasts. His parents; his brother, Paul; and his beloved pets, Max, Pretzel, Pippin, Bailey, Copper, Riley Cat and Riley Dog, precede John in death. Survivors include his wife, Denise; his children, Laura Grzanka and husband, Rich, Dan Chavanne and wife, Afroditi, Jill Augustine and husband, Mike, Tanya Sheehan and husband, Kevin, Keith Manz and wife, Sarah and Matthew Manz and wife, Jill; grandchildren, Andrew, Josh, Stephanie, Michelle, Michael, Grace, Hanna, Matthew, Ryan, Craig, Mark, Ashley, Austin, Bradley, Kaitlyn, Kara, Kayla and Colin. and his sister, Marie Roeland and husband, Ed. A service to celebrate John's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April, 16, 2014, at Lakeshore Christian Fellowship, 130 Shoreline Parkway, Tega Cay, S.C. (803-548-2755).
