Richard A. Barreto FORT MILL - Richard A. Barreto, of Fort Mill, S.C., 90, passed away June 13, 2014. He was born April 26, 1924, in New York and was the son of the late Ricardo Barreto and Ruth Schwickardi Barreto. Richard served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of War aboard the USS Hector AR-7. Following his service, he attended New York University, Washington Square, New York City. Richard was a retired retail executive with many years of service to the Florsheim Shoe Co., NYC and Bloomingdales. During his retirement he was an avid golfer. Richard is survived by his wife, Ana Isabel Vaglio Barreto and they celebrated 60 years of marriage April 24, 2014. He is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Mary Jo Barreto of Tega Cay and Robert J. and Karen Barreto of Greenville, S.C.; his four grandchildren, Anna Katherine Barreto Townsend and her husband, Dennis L. Townsend IV of Columbia, Richard A. Barreto of Tega Cay, Robert J. Barreto Jr. and Katherine Elizabeth Barreto, both of Greenville. His sisters, Ruth L. Madigan and Dr. Delia M Barreto preceded him in death. He is also survived by his sisters, Pamela Primeggia (Dr. Salvator Primeggia) of New York and Dr. Claudia Barreto of New Mexico. His nephews are Richard Michael Madigan of Farmingdale, N.Y., and Kevin William Madigan of New Jersey. The service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in the chapel of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the
