Robert Nash, Sr. CHESTER - Mr. Robert James Nash, Sr., 88, died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Chester Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Shepard officiating. The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014, at Barron Funeral Home. Born October 7, 1925, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Mr. Nash was a son of the late Evans David Nash and Gladys Brooks Nash. He was a graduate of LaCrosse High School, LaCrosse, VA, and attended Smithdale-Massey Business College, Richmond, VA. Mr. Nash was a retired department manager of Campus Sportswear. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class and former Sunday School Secretary. He was a former member of the Administrative Board and instrumental in the renovation of the windows in Bethel United Methodist Church. He was also past president of Dixie Youth Baseball. He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Elizabeth Shaw Nash; two sons, Robert James Nash, Jr. and his wife Rachel, of North Charleston, and William Evans Nash and his wife Nicki, of Edgemoor; six grandchildren, Laura Moran (Patrick) of Woodstock, GA, Jason Stuart Nash (Nikki) of Washington, PA, Brady Edward Nash of Rock Hill, SC, Evan Bennett Nash, Rorie James Amos and Addie McBrayer Amos, all of Edgemoor. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Evans David Nash, Jr. and Edwin Brooks Nash. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, PO Box 751, Chester, SC 29706.
