William "Bill" Workman Sr.ROCK HILL - Mr. William Edward "Bill" Workman Sr., 92, passed away, Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Phillip Chandler officiating and Mr. Jimmy Currence assisting. Interment with military honors will follow at Grandview Memorial Park on South Cherry Road. Mr. Workman was a native of York County, the son of the late Arthur Edward Workman and the late Bertha Drakeford Workman. He was a retired salesman with Wickes Lumber Company and a member of Antioch United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in Normandy, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was rewarded the EAMET Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post 34 and VFW Post 2889 in Rock Hill. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Jane Threatt Workman of the home; three sons, Albert "Eddie" Workman of York, S.C., William Edward "Billy" Workman Jr. and Robert Glenn "Robbie" Workman, both of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.
