TEGA CAY - Maureen Dalziel Herndon, 82, died peacefully Aug. 17, 2012, at her daughter, Melissa Melvin's home in Tega Cay, S.C.

She was born March 11, 1930, in Chicago, Ill. One of six children, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Dalziel; her parents, Charles Thomas Dalziel Sr. and Ruby Winifred Matthews; as well as her youngest son, David Charles Bennett.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in The Great Room of Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service.

Ms. Herndon was a member of DSBG and The Arbor Society and loved to travel, having been to Mexico, Canada, England and Scotland. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was an avid genealogy researcher. Ms. Herndon also loved to garden, cook and was a voracious reader.

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Melvin (Wayne), of Tega Cay; Sheila Estes of Otis Orchards, Wash.; and her son, Michael Bennett (Jamie) of Anchorage, Alaska; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
