Peerless W. NidayROCK HILL - Mr. Peerless W. Niday, 89, of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Pastor Tommy Williams officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park-Cherry Road. A native of Narrows, Va., Mr. Niday was the son of the late David and Sally Rodgers Niday. He was previously employed with JP Stevens and retired from Woodward Specialties as a mechanic. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II in the Philippines. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Niday attended Security Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis B. Niday of the home; his sons, Danny Niday and Doug Niday (Sandra) of Rock Hill; David Niday (Linda) of Inman, S.C., and Donald Niday (Patricia) of Reston, Va.; his daughter, Susan N. Reynolds of Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Robertson and Ruth Hale. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732. Memorials may be made in Mr. Niday's name to Hospice Care of S.C., 1639 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732 or Security Baptist Church Building Fund, 424 Annafrel St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
