
ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Blackmon" Huckabee Sr, 43, passed away due to heart complications on Dec. 4, 2012.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour.
The family will receive friends at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the home of Patricia Huckabee, 532 Aiken Avenue and Saturday following the internment at Laurelwood Cemetery on White Street in Rock Hill.
Mr. Huckabee graduated from Northwestern High School where he was Student Body President in 1987. He received a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1991 in English and History from Wake Forest University. While at Wake, he was appointed as a Presidential Intern with President Tom Hearn and served in the summers as a page to Senator Strom Thurmond. He received his Masters Degree in English from Winthrop University in 1994 where he later worked as an English 101 professor. He also earned his Juris Doctorate of Law degree from the University of South Carolina in 2000. From 2002 to the present, he practiced law at Huckabee Law Firm in Rock Hill, S.C. Mr. Huckabee was an activist and volunteer in his community and church as a Past-President of Kiwanis and the Senior Warden of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour.
Mr. Huckabee is pre-deceased by his father, Joseph Levern Huckabee Sr. He is survived by his former wife, Sheila Huckabee; daughter, Ashby Cate Huckabee and son, William Blackmon Huckabee Jr.; his mother, Patricia B. Huckabee; siblings Joseph Levern Huckabee Jr., Ann H. Snipes and A. Watts Huckabee Sr., and nieces and nephews, Olivia A. Huckabee, Sarah Ann Snipes, Ansel W. Huckabee Jr., and W. Joseph Snipes.
