Franklin Lucas, Sr. ROCK HILL - Our loving father went to meet our Heavenly Father on June 27, 2014, at 12:43pm. God in His mercy has called him home and though his body slumbers here, his soul is safe in heaven. The funeral service will be 10am on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. David O'Donnell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery. Born in Lancaster County, SC, Mr. Lucas was a son of the late James Frank Lucas and the late Sara Maggdline Eubanks Lucas. He was a US Army veteran serving in WWII where he received a Victory Metal. He was retired from Hoechst Celanese with 41 years of service. He was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church since 1998 and was the widower of Ruth Catoe Lucas. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Benjamin Franklin Lucas and George Ernest Littleton Lucas; and his sisters, Mary Geneva Lucas Carnes and Willie Maud Lucas. Surviving are his son, Franklin Lucas, Jr. of Smyrna, SC; his daughters, Sara Lucas Rogers and her husband, Larry of Catawba and Kathy Lucas McConnell and her husband, Frank of Rock Hill; his brother, John Stevenson Lucas of Clarksville, TN; his sisters, Lucille Lee Lucas Adams, Sara Elizabeth Lucas Neely and Betty Jean Lucas Harper, all of Lancaster, SC; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to send a special thanks to Kim Marshall and Jan Dillard of Interim Healthcare Hospice for their loving care of their precious father in his time of need and for their family. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill and other times at the home of his daughter, Sara Rogers. Memorials may be made in Mr. Lucas' name to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 154 Amendment Ave, #105, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Condolences may be made at www.greenefuneralhome.net.
