Joann Duncan Obituary
Funeral services will be held in Parma, Ohio and a memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rock Hill. A reception of family and friends will follow the memorial service at Mrs. Duncan's home in Rock Hill.
A native of Seven Hills, Ohio, Dr. Duncan was the daughter of the late Joseph B. Fabin and the late Julia Drummond Fabin. She was a proud member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Rock Hill, SC. She loved art, the theater, opera, and Broadway shows as well as spending time with her friends and family.
Joann was an alumna of Ohio State and the University of Minnesota and completed her doctorate in psychology. Her career spanned over 35 years, as she worked tirelessly and selflessly assisting those children with a variety of mental health and other challenges. She spent years developing and supporting South Carolina's state wide system of services for children and adolescents with Autism and other mental health disorders, lending her creativity and wisdom to the children, their families and her staff.
Dr. Duncan is survived by her daughter, Melanie Duncan and her husband, Matthew Capobianco of Charleston, SC; her granddaughters, Veronica and Stella Capobianco; her brother Joseph B. Fabin Jr. and his wife Lisa Fabin and her nephew Timothy Fabin all of Minerva, N.Y.
The family wishes to extend a special heartfelt thanks to Susie Mccleod and Joan Taylor for the care, love, and friendship they gave Joann over many years and all the others that helped her in the last year.
Memorials may be given in her name to Hospice & Community Care Children's Programming, P.O. 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or Saint Mary Catholic Church, P.O. Box 11982, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

...Jo - what an honor to have had the privilege of working with you over the years. Oh how I appreciated your brilliance, your work ethic, your wisdom, wit and sarcasm LOL! By the way, me and Susie were eating pork rinds behind your back for YEARS - I tried to stop her Jo, but she wouldn't listen to me! I couldn't do anything with her LOL - fun times huh? Such amazing insight - we made an "interesting team"- but I think you understood me better than most - thanks for everything you imparted over the years - so proud to be a friend. Love ya girl -- you're the best.
