ROCK HILL - Mrs. Jean Sealy Mitchell, 89, of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Edgemoor ARP Church, officiated by the Rev. Allen Derrick. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

She was born in Rock Hill on May 9, 1923, the daughter of the late John B. and Lillian Hanks Sealy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene G. Mitchell; sisters, Dorothy S. Rauch and Rebecca S. Barry; and her brother, John B. Sealy.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Edgemoor ARP Church where she kept the nursery for many years. Mrs. Mitchell and her husband volunteered for the Rock Hill Civitans for over 25 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Needham; her son, Rick Mitchell (Tammie); her grandchildren, Rob Needham (Karen), Chrissy Catoe (Michael), Blake Mitchell and Evan Mitchell (Carlyn); great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Brinkley Needham.

The family would like to thank the staff of Harbor Chase Rock Hill for the care given to Mrs. Mitchell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, S.C.
