CHESTER - Mrs. Frances Nevins Meek, 86, formerly of Chester, S.C., passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in a Rock Hill skilled nursing facility. She was born, Jan. 15, 1926, in Gaston County, N.C., to the late Allie B. and Jessie Crook Nivens. She was retired from Wal-Mart and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Meek is survived by her husband, “Bob” John Robert Meek; two sons, James B. Meek and his wife, Rita of Gastonia and Billy Reece Meek of Bessemer City, N.C. She had six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Banks Meek.
The visitation and funeral for Mrs. Meek will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. The visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. and the funeral will be conducted by the Rev. David M. Sealy at 2 p.m. Mrs. Meek will be laid to rest in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Mission Fund of Calvary Baptist Church, 160 Calvary Church Rd., Chester, SC 29706.
