
ROCK HILL - Mr. Ray Jackson Carter Jr., 56, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Services for Mr. Carter will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Catawba Baptist Church, 1450 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, with the Rev. Jack Hildreth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born Jan. 1, 1957, he was a native of Rock Hill and loved spending time at the lake. He was a devoted husband and father. He graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1975 and was a dedicated and loyal employee of Lance Inc. for 35 years. He enjoyed being outdoors and perfected the art of “piddling” around the house. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray H. and Eura P. Carter and Dorcia Barrett; his sister, Carol Ann Carter; and his father, Ray Jackson Carter Sr.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Shirley Carter; his children, Kimberly Carter Hildreth (Tony), Christen Carter Sifontes (Yucel) and Ray Jackson Carter III; one granddaughter, Kennady Grace Hildreth; and two grandsons, Tanner Hildreth and Hunter Hildreth. He is also survived by his mother, Loree Brown; his sister, Vicky Carter; nephew, Jamie Corley; his great-nephew, Luke Jackson Corley; and his stepmother, Virginia Carter; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, and other times at the home.
