
ROCK HILL - Dorothy Grey Todd Painter, 93, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at WillowBrooke Court at Park Pointe Village, surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 14, 1919, to Mary Grey Todd and James McCoy Todd in Wendell, N.C., where she lived over 80 years. Mrs. Painter retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and reading her Bible. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lewis Elgie Painter; a sister; and two brothers.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Wendell Baptist Church, 3651 Wendell Blvd., Wendell, N.C., with Dr. Bob Shrum officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Wendell, N.C.
Mrs. Painter is survived by a sister, Eva T. Finch of Harkers Island, N.C.; her daughters, Linda Arnold of Waynesville, N.C., and Carolyn Boyette (Tim) of Rock Hill, S.C.; her son, Johnny Painter of Waynesville, N.C.; three grandsons, Ashley Boyette (Geri) of Rock Hill, Bob Arnold (Nancy) of Pittsburg, Pa., and Jim Arnold (Krista) Boston, Mass.; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill.
