Doc MeltonYORK - Buford "Doc" Lyndon Melton, 78, of 105 Charlotte Street, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at his home in York, S.C. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Friday Aug. 30, 2013, at Central Baptist Church, with the Revs. Cary Caldwell and Owen Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Bratton Funeral Home. Doc was a son of the late Buford and Mattie Bell Wallace Melton. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, was retired from Bowater and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Doc was also a founding member of the Chapter H Goldwing Road Riders Association. He is survived by wife, Ann Morrison Melton of York; son, Bruce Lyndon "Pork Chop" Melton of Rock Hill, S.C.; brother, George Melton of Clover, S.C.; and two granddaughters, Kendell Teague (Andrew) and Presley Melton. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Lee Melton; brothers, John Melton and Max Melton; and sisters, Rachel M. Wallace and Christine M. Byers.
