Herman W. Allen Jr. Obituary
Herman W. Allen, Jr., 74, of Mechanicsville, former owner of Herman W. Allen Plumbing and Heating, a vibrant and boisterous father, brother, grandfather, and businessman, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel C. and Herman W. Allen, Sr., and is survived by his children, Jennifer A. Owings (David) and Andy D. Allen; three grandchildren, Brooks, Anne Douglas, and Winnie; sister, Wanda Witherow (Jim); two nieces, Amanda and Rebecca; as well as the mother of his children, Nancy P. Allen. Herman was a talented athlete and was voted "the biggest flirt" of the first graduating class of Lee-Davis High School in 1959. Before joining his father at Herman W. Herman had coaching stints at Lee-Davis, Hermitage, Bluestone, Nelson County, and Culpepper High Schools, having won Coach of the Year honors at Nelson County.
