Born May 15, 1923 in Letino, Italy, Anthony (Tony) Di Cecco passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 surrounded by his family. Becoming an American citizen in 1940, Tony worked at Picatinny Arsenal in NJ during WWII. After 33 years of service at Washburn Wire Co. in NYC, Tony, and his wife, Blanca, of 56 years moved to Longboat Key in 1989. He volunteered with Meals On Wheels, Mote Marine, and worked for LBK's Publix for a few years. His passion for fishing, gardening, animals, and his family will always be remembered. Tony is survived by his wife, Blanca, children, Joe, Sam, and Fanny Younger, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A service will be held at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Sarasota on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 9:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation be made to Tidewell Hospice.
