Burton Stern of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Roslyn, NY, passed away at home on November 8, 2013 after a long illness. He moved to Sarasota in 2005 from Roslyn, New York. Mr. Stern received a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and continued to support his alma mater throughout his life. He received a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering from New York University
and an Advanced Degree in Management Development from Harvard Business School.
His love of airplanes led him to a career in aeronautics. He was Chief Financial Officer of Grumman Data Systems, Chief Operating Officer of Grumman International, Vice President of Fairchild Republic, and Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of CPI Aerostructures. He later worked in Securities and Investment Banking.
Mr. Stern is survived by his wife Sandi Stern; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Susan Stern, daughters Elise Stern and Callie Tramantano, son-in-law Robert Tramantano; and granddaughters Danielle and Rachel Stern and Leah Tramantano. Burial service was held on November 10, 2013 in New York.
