Carl (Tom) Williams passed peacefully Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Born December 10, 1939 in Rogersville, TN. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea with Military Police and was awarded Honor Graduate Provost Generals School. Returning he received his Criminology degree from Berea College in Berea, KY. Graduate of Maryland State Police he was assigned to Waterloo and Annapolis barracks. Relocating to Florida he was a deputy with the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office in Punta Gorda, Fl. Most of his life was dedicated to law enforcement and employment with private security.



Tom is survived by his wife, Frances Callis-Williams, daughters Carla Barnes (Terry) Port Charlotte, FL, Patti Carney of Venice, FL and son James (Jodi) Williams of Fredericksburg, VA., Stepchildren Candace Ierulli, Christopher Callis and Lt. Col. Corteney (Tiffanie) Callis of Sarasota. Grandchildren James Dethloff, Gaylord, MI, Elizabeth, Kathryn and Anna Williams of Fredericksburg, VA, Ashley Ierulli, Brandon Callis, Ava Callis, Brandon Driggers and Courtnie Driggers all of Sarasota.



Growing up he was known as CT and leaves his sisters Margaret Burnham of Columbus, GA, Virginia Lee of Rogersville, TN, and a brother Frank Williams of Rogersville, TN.



He leaves behind many extended family members and friends along with the mother of their children, Dorothy Williams, Venice FL.



Services will be Friday June 20, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Hwy 72, in Sarasota, FL.



Sincere appreciation is extended to SMH ICU staff and TideWell Hospice for the care shown to Tom and family members. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, Fl. 34238.
