Carolyn K. Pitts, age 80, of Nokomis, FL, died on March 30, 2013. She was born to Protus and Nellie (Sink) Koonts in Lexington, North Carolina on September 12, 2013, and came to Nokomis from Birmingham, AL in 1969. Carolyn was a graduate of the Woman's College of North Carolina (UNC Greensboro). She taught elementary school in Greensboro and Atlanta before moving to Florida. She was known as a voracious reader who especially enjoyed mysteries.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, H. Lauden Pitts of Nokomis; daughter Ansley Kramer (Michael) of Tallahassee, FL; sons Hansel Pitts (Amy) of Nokomis and Greg Pitts, also of Nokomis; 8 grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Joanne Craver of Jacksonville, FL, Lala Myers of Clover, SC, and Patty King of Lexington, NC.
Visitation will be at Farley Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3rd from 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM. Funeral service will be at Venice Nokomis United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 4th at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
