Charles "Chuck" A.
Gallagher, 77, of Sarasota, formerly of Ferndale, Mich., died on October 8, 2013, following a short struggle with cancer. Chuck was born on April 29, 1936, in Boston, Mass., and lived most of his adult years in Michigan. He is survived by his daughters Tracy Gallagher Hendriks of Portland, Ore., and Susan Gallagher Scipione of Rochester Hills, Mich., and two grandchildren. Chuck was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a BS in electrical engineering. His working years were devoted to computer sales and property management. Chuck served in the Navy in the Korean conflict era as an electronics technician. In retirement he donated his time and resources to the Literacy Council of Sarasota, Meals on Wheels of Sarasota and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota. Chuck will be remembered for his wit and love of learning. His ashes were laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery. Donations may be directed to a .
