Chuck C. Gardner, Jr., 82, of Bradenton, FL, died on Mar. 25, 2013. Visitation will be held at 12:00 PM on Sat., Apr. 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Church in Bradenton, FL. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sat., at St. Joseph Church in Bradenton, FL. Funeral arrangements by: Good Earth Crematory.
Charles C. "Chuck" Gardner, Jr., 82, went home to the Lord on March 25, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Born on September 30, 1930, he was the eldest son of Charles C. Gardner, Sr. and Anna Gardner. Charles served in the United States Air Force in the 1950's. He had been employed by Hammermill Paper Co. for 42 years. He was an avid golfer and a past member of the Lawrence Park Golf Club. He was also a past member of the Siebeunburger Club.
"Chuck" also bowled in a league at Frontier Bowling Lanes for over 25 years. He was a celebrated pitcher as well, for various slo-pitch leagues in Erie, PA.
After retiring, Chuck moved to the Bradenton, Florida area in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Club
. He also was a past member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as past Grand Knight and held several other offices as well. He was an usher for St. Joseph Church.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, a brother, William and a sister, Shirley.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann and his four daughters, Laura (James) Stumpo, Darcey Barnes, Susan (Robert) Figurski and Tammy (Michael) Miller; two brothers, Timothy and Terrance and a sister, Judith Moorehead; his aunt, Valentine Catapano; his cousin, Donald Snyder and Debra Catapano-Field; several nieces and nephews, and his cherished 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive condolences Sat., April 6th at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Church, 3100 26th Street West, Bradenton, Florida. A Mass of celebration of life will immediately follow at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to St. Joseph School.
