Jensen, Clara
Aug. 18, 1914 - Apr. 20, 2013
Clara Jensen, 98, of Nokomis, born August 18, 1914, in Taylorville, Illinois, passed away April 20, 2013, at Palmer Ranch Healthcare Center in Sarasota. Healthy and active most of her life, she was stricken with uro-sepsis and renal failure on January 24th. She was the daughter of Peter and Clara Bernhardt who both worked for the automotive industry in Detroit. Mrs. Jensen attended schools in Illinois and Michigan. She worked for Sears & Roebuck, and years later for Square D-Electric in Detroit, then at Gerber Products Company as a comptroller, stenographer and receptionist. She retired in 1961. Her great love was her husband, Donald C. Jensen, who died in 1998. They were married in 1942 and shared 56 years of marriage living in Fremont, Michigan and Florida. Following Mr. Jensen's retirement, as treasurer of Gerber Products they settled in the Venice, FL, area in 1976. As members of the Ramshorns Country Club in Michigan, Mrs. Jensen continued to pursue her interests of golf, bowling, bridge and active participation in the Grace Bible Church in Florida, enjoying 37 years of retirement life there. Clara is survived by her daughter, Diane Loughlin, of Stow, Massachusetts, nephews Gary Bernhardt of Sterling Heights, Michigan, and Ross Bernhardt of Dawsonville, GA. Mrs. Jensen's twin brother, Clayton, died in 1981. Our hearts are broken, but full of love and gratitude for Clara's life. But now she is peacefully and lovingly reunited with her husband and departed family.
