Donald E. Rogers, Sr., 77, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Youngstown, OH., died on Dec. 2, 2012. Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Thurs., at Cedar Cove MHP in Sarasota, FL. Funeral arrangements by: Packer Funeral Home.
Donald E. Rogers, 77 of Sarasota, passed away on Dec. 2, 2012 at home. He was born in New Castle, PA, the son of William and Lena (Vance) Rogers. He lived in Youngstown till retiring and moving to Sarasota, Florida in 1998 from Youngstown, OH. He retired after 37 yrs with the Sisters of the Humility of Mary-Villa Maria, Pennsylvania. Don was a proud Marine Corp veteran serving during the Korean War
. He was a much respected amateur baseball coach in the Youngstown area for many years. He enjoyed walking the beach, reading and was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and Judy, his lovely bride of 54 yrs. He is preceded in death by his wife Judy, who passed away this past March. He is survived by a sister, Carol Kuzma (Ron). Sons, Don Jr. (Mary Ellen) of St. Petersburg, FL, Ron of Youngstown, OH., Ed of Georgetown, KY., and Jim (Beth) of Hanks, MN. Daughters, Mary Ann Bowes (Bill) of Struthers, OH., and Lee Ann Morrison (Thor) of Richmond, KY., his niece Julie Kuzma, nephew Dan Kuzma (Mandy) his grandchildren William Rogers, Lindsay Rogers, Sammie Rogers (Davina), Lena Rogers, Scott Rogers, Billy Bowes (Bridget), David Bowes (Ashley), Ryan Bowes, Jim Rogers, Candis Rogers, James Morrison, Anne Morrison and Tom Morrison, eight great-grandchildren and family friend Joey Popio.
