Donald George Johnson of Venice, Florida passed away at the age of 97 on April 18, 2014.
Don Johnson was born to George Johnson and Julia (Schmidt) Johnson on August 13, 1916 in Port Hope, MI. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Forestry and retired from IBM in Michigan after 28 years of service as a computer engineer. He was married to Joy Smith in 1947 and after her passing in 1975, he was married to Mary Caito in 1978.
Don served honorably in the Army during World War II from 1942-1945. He had a lifelong passion for nature and enjoyed fishing, boating and golfing in his retirement years. He was a founder and charter member of St. Andrew's South Golf Club in Punta Gorda Isles, FL.
Don is survived by his wife Mary, her children Steve and Joseph Caito, his children Diane and Donald Johnson and six grandchildren.
Don will be honored and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
