Dorothy Marie Grotefent

Grotefent, Dorothy Marie
Oct. 5, 1923 - Dec. 27, 2012
Though born in Halfway, MI (a Detroit suburb) Dorothy Marie Volkenant never did much halfway.
A devoted mother and wife, singer, entertainer, author and philosopher. Dorothy passed quietly at home, as she wished, with family in attendance.
At age 41 she accepted a life-changing proposal from Arthur Grotefent (a prominent member of the famous Wallenda circus family) and moved to dynamic SRQ in 1964.
This creative spirit took the circus as her passion, writing numerous articles and books of its cast of characters, their culture and lives.
You may stop in to say farewell Thursday, January 10th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Palms - Robarts, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota and/or attend the service at Manatee Memorial Park, at the intersection of 9th St. E. and S.R. 70 (53rd Ave E.) afterwards.
