Edwin L. Albrecht, 85 years of age, passed away on March 10, 2014 while attending a spring training baseball game in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born in Schenectady, NY on July 31, 1928 and was the son of the late William J. and Susan (Sweeney) Albrecht. He enlisted in the US Army after graduation from high school and served in Korea from 1946 to 1948. He attended Syracuse University and received a B.A. in Economics and later earned an M.A. in Education from SUNY. He was employed by the NY State Education Department for 28 years before retiring as the head of Administrative Analysis. Ed spent his retirement in Saratoga Springs, NY in the summer and Sarasota, FL during the winter. He is survived by his son David Albrecht of Salem NY, his wife Loretta and grandson Nicholas, and his son Donald Albrecht of Greenwich NY, and his wife Linda, and grandchildren Rachel, Claire and Christopher, and several nieces and a nephew. He is also survived by Jacqueline Gray, his wife from a previous marriage, and his longtime partner Pearl Baker. He was the brother of the late William J. Albrecht, James J. Albrecht, and Robert C. Albrecht. His life interests include baseball, golf, running, horseracing, reading, political discourse and attending his grandchildren's sporting and musical events. Services for final interment with full military honors will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY on June 6, 2014 at one in the afternoon.
