Fred Sims Quincy, 80, of Venice, FL, died on Mar. 2, 2013.
He was born April 9, 1932, and was raised in Paola, KS, the youngest of five children born to John H. and Esther M. Quincy of Paola. He attended eight years of school at Beaver Creek School, six miles east of Paola. He graduated from Paola High School in 1949. He served in the US Air Force from 1952-1956. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business. He worked for eight years as an office manager for two shopping centers and in 1967 was employed as credit and collection manager for Yellow Freight System for 21 years. He was an avid gardener and retired early to enjoy his flowers. He did extensive traveling in Europe and took many cruises, but he suffered from COPD in later years and was unable to continue traveling. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Louis H. Quincy and Orrin A. Quincy. Survivors include his life-time partner, Lewis E. Boehm; two sisters, Edith Kester of Osawatomie and Ethel Goodeyon of Paola; and many nieces and nephews. National Cremation and Burial Society is handling arrangements. He will be interred in a niche at Venice Memorial Gardens.
