George M. Bachar, 78, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died on Apr. 4, 2013. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Fri., at Faith Presbyterian Church in Sarasota, FL. Funeral arrangements by: Packer Funeral Home.
George Bachar of Sarasota, Florida, 78 years young, passed away in his home after a long battle with cancer and a short battle with Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease. George and his family moved to Sarasota from Arlington Heights, Illinois in 1974. George was a teacher, a pharmaceutical salesman and owner of a clothing store named "By the Seat of your Pants." They moved here and opened a restaurant at the Longboat Marina on Longboat Key called the "Charthouse Pub." It was known for having the best hotdogs and chili in town.
George will always be remembered by his loving family and friends for his sense of humor and kind heart and most of all for his wonderful dancing which he enjoyed so much, with the love of his life Bernice. George and his wife Bernice "Bernie" just celebrated 52 wonderful years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife Bernice, brother Jim of Chicago, his son Dr. Craig Bachar and daughter-in-law Danielle, three grandchildren Devin, Chris and Alyssa and great-grandchild Oliver of Sarasota. Daughter Lisa Koontz and son-in-law Jeffrey, two grandchildren Kaitlyn and Camryn of Peachtree City, GA., Son-in-law Mike Wolfson of Sarasota. Proceeded in death by his brothers Danny and Dickie and his beloved daughter Denise Wolfson.
