George O. Taylor, 87, born March 10, 1925 in Springfield, Mass , passed away January 22, 2013. He was raised on a farm in Springfield, Mass and would spend his summers in Sarasota, FL where he graduated from Sarasota High School. He joined the army and is a WWII Veteran. He got his degree in structural engineering and worked for the US Corp of Engineers Army for 30 yrs in Frankfurt, Germany and Norfolk, Virginia . Upon his retirement he moved back to Sarasota, FL where he built his dream house on the land where he had lived during his childhood. He remarried in 1994 after the death of his first wife, Betty in 1991 and finished out his life with all the family members of Joyce Godwin. He enjoyed and treasured all the new births and grand children in his retirement years with her, and he will be missed by all his family members. He loved to tell stories to all that crossed his path, on his life, on farming, engineering and all the beauty that Europe had to offer. He enjoyed bowling, old movies, making wine, gardening and doing architect designs. He is survived by his wife and his 3 daughters, Marilynn Vetzel , Bettie Steininger, and Georgia Anderson.
A gathering will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sat., Jan. 26, 2013 at his home in Sarasota, FL. Services will be held in Massachusetts to be announced.
