Helen Leibrand Madara, 90, died on October 12, 2012 from congestive heart failure. Mrs. Madara moved to Sarasota in 1979 after retiring from the Maryland school system. She was a remarkable woman who lived her life with vitality, integrity and good will. Helen remained active and independent until her death. She was a volunteer at the Sarasota Woman's Exchange for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James L. Madara, and eldest son, James M. Madara. Helen was also the beloved mother of Patricia J. and David G. Madara. Also cherishing her memory are daughters-in-law, Gail and Betty Madara, grandsons, Mark and Scott Madara, sisters, Alice Vermillion and Jane Wolfgang, brother-in-law, Robert Wolfgang and sisters-in-law, Hazel Berg and Helen Madara (in New York), numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful, dear friends. Memorial services were held in Frackville, PA at the Trinity Evangelical Church on November 10 and will be held in Sarasota, FL, at the Faith Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM on Sat., Dec. 8., 2012. Interment was in Frackville, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her beloved Woman's Exchange of Sarasota, 539 South Orange Ave. Sarasota, Florida 34236.
